The Victorian Government is supporting local communities by helping to deliver critical infrastructure in the Yarra Ranges with a $100,000 boost from the Growing Suburbs Fund.
Member for Monbulk, Daniela de Martino visited Upwey today to celebrate the start of works for the $200,000 Wright Avenue Reserve Playspace Renewal project, jointly funded by the Victorian Government and Yarra Ranges Shire Council.
Wright Avenue Playspace will be refurbished with upgraded equipment including a double bay swing set, slides, a carousel spinner, drinking fountain and seating. Nature play elements with rocks and logs will be incorporated, along with new garden beds with native plants.
A new accessible pathway will improve access from street parking and provide a link between Wright Avenue and Mast Gully Road.
The project will improve the amenity and accessibility of the local park, with family-friendly areas including educational and imaginative play spaces.
The Growing Suburbs Fund represents a $440 million Victorian Government investment over 10 years that has to date provided over $1.3 billion of critical local infrastructure in our fast-growing suburbs.
The Victorian Budget 2024-25 provided $5 million to continue the support for infrastructure needs for our fast-growing outer suburbs, with the funding being administered by the Department of Transport and Planning.
Since its establishment in 2015, the program has supported 360 projects representing a total infrastructure investment of $1.3 billion and has created more than 11,340 jobs.
